Licensing Expo was supposed to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year, but is instead joining the long list of events cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Industry experts will next gather in Las Vegas for the licensing trade show May 25 to 27, 2021.
Originally set to take place from May 19 to 21, Licensing Expo was previously rescheduled for August earlier this year in response to ongoing concerns about COVID-19. That in-person event is now cancelled, though an online event Licensing Expo Virtual will still take place June 15 to 19, 2020. Registration for the digital conference will open the week of May 18, and additional multi-platform events are set to take place throughout the remainder of the year.
Licensing Expo typically attracts attendees from more than 70 countries, with upwards of 16,000 people—including IP owners, licensees and retailers—taking part in the annual event.
A number of events have been postponed or cancelled in the wake of COVID-19, including Animation Dingle 2020 (cancelled), Cartoon Business (rescheduled to December), Bologna Children’s Book Fair (rescheduled digitally to May), MIPTV (cancelled) and Annecy (cancelled). Kidscreen’s full list of postponed and cancelled kids industry events is available online.
