LONDON: U.S. TV network Fox is poised to take a 50 percent stake in the cable and satellite children’s channel TCC from the British media group Flextech in a deal worth an estimated $40 million (U.S.).
Fox is understood to have entered due diligence on the deal after ongoing talks with Flextech, which currently owns 75 percent of the channel. Insiders suggest that Fox is looking to use TCC’s British service as an outlet for its recently announced programming and distribution deal with Saban Entertainment.
Another Murdoch-owned satellite channel, Sky One, which currently benefits from the Fox/Saban deal, has announced a revamp of its children’s schedule following a drop in audience share, and is looking to appoint a head of children’s programming.
