When The Man of Steel soars onto TV screens next fall as the centerpiece of the WB Television Network’s new children’s programming service, WB Kids, he’ll be carrying a load of new licensing agreements with him.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products will launch a full-scale licensing and merchandising program to coincide with the series’ debut in September.

Confirmed promotional partners include Kenner, which will launch a new animation segment of the Superman toy line in the summer, and Six Flags Magic Mountain, which will debut Superman: The Escape the world’s fastest and tallest rollercoaster this summer.

In negotiation are consumer promotions with a packaged foods company and a major ice cream treats company. The Superman property has over 60 licensees, and negotiations are being held with many of them to license the new animated series.

Superman, the oldest and boldest superhero, will be sporting an updated, high-tech look inspired by the classic Fleischer cartoons of the 1940s. The new Superman series is being created by the same team that developed the animated Adventures of Batman and Robin. The series will air on Saturday mornings. Superman will be voiced by actor Tim Daly of the television show Wings.
