The White House’s special interest in children’s programming will be extended by at least one more summit, it appears. This time, advertisers will be asked to explore their role and responsibilities in promoting better children’s television.

A spokesperson in Vice President Al Gore’s office confirms that the U.S. Vice President has agreed to chair a summit meeting in which leading advertisers will be asked to look at what they can do to encourage quality children’s programming.

The suggestion came out of the recent White House summit meeting with broadcasters. The advertiser summit is expected to be held before the end of this year, the spokesperson says.
