Disney’s Animated StoryBook, Toy Story for MS-DOS/Windows, published by Disney Interactive, and the Macintosh version of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, from Mindscape, were the top-selling home education titles of 1996, according to Reston, Virginia-based PC Data. In the MS-DOS/Windows category, Brøderbund Software’s Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? took the number two position, with Davidson & Associates’ Math Blaster 1: In Search of Spot next in line. Disney’s The Lion King Activity Center and Disney’s Animated StoryBook, Pocahontas placed second and third in the Macintosh category.

Disney Interactive had the largest showing of titles ranked in the home education arena, with six of the top 10 products for MS-DOS/Windows and four of the top 10 for Macintosh. After Disney, only Brøderbund had more that one title listed; its Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego? placed seventh among MS-DOS/Windows titles.

Home education titles ranged in price from US$26 to $38.
