British distributor Serious Lunch has secured the worldwide distribution rights (excluding Asia) to Bo & To’s Family, a stop-frame animated series from Seoul-based prodco Comma Studios.
Co-produced by Comma with Korean broadcasters SK Broadband, KBS and SBA, the 54 x five-minute, non-dialogue comedy for kids and families centers on the lives of three adopted street cats that live in their owner’s coffee shop. Blending fantasy and reality, the show’s felines enjoy human activities like watching TV and cooking when left on their own, but revert to cat-like behavior around people.
Comma holds distribution rights in Asia where Bo & To’s Family has already been snapped up by KBS and Disney Korea. The series premiered on September 20, 2018, and January 1, 2019 by KBS2 and the House of Mouse, respectively. Disney aired the first 27 episodes and expects to launch the next 27 in June when the series will be fully delivered.
Bo & To’s Family is based on a short-form web series by Comma called Botos. The IP has also been featured in Korean commercials and educational resource centers and was a Cartoon Forum 2017 selection.
Serious Lunch and the company’s newly appointed director of sales Leila Ouledcheikh will be selling the series to potential buyers at MIPTV in April.
