WNBA nets more licensees
The Women’s National Basketball Association has issued new licenses to four apparel and clothing accessories manufacturers-American Needle (league- and team-branded caps); Antigua (T-shirts, tank tops, polo shirts, shorts and denim apparel); Iron Knights (T-shirts, tanks, leggings, action tops, shorts and fleece, windwear, dresses, skirts and poplin shirts); and Mighty Mac (windwear, outerwear, fleece sets, denim apparel, T-shirts, shorts, headwear, boxed gift sets and separates). All of the merchandise, which the companies are creating in sizes for both girls and women, will be available to retailers in time for the start of the WNBA’s season in June.
Sierra Sports
rides the bull
PC CD-ROM creator Sierra Sports has reined in three exclusive multiyear licensing deals with Professional Bull Riders Inc. (a Colorado Springs, Colorado-based company that promotes and organizes rodeos and bull-riding throughout North America) and PBR legends Ty Murray and Tuff Hedeman. As per the agreements, Sierra becomes the sole software developer of PBR, and will use the organization’s trademarks, logos and know-how to create game simulations that recreate the thrills of rodeo bull-riding. The first title, called Professional Bull Rider, which Sierra is producing for the PC CD-ROM format, features the likenesses of both Murray and Hedeman, and will be available this September. Sierra is also working on a rodeo game for the Sony PlayStation format, which will be released later in the fall.
