German licensing agent V.I.P. Entertainment & Merchandising has secured the rights to market Mondo TV’s entire kids animation portfolio in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.

Included in the deal with the Rome-based prodco are 773 half-hour episodes of Mondo’s animated kids fare, including Cinderella, Black Corsair, Pocahontas, Jesus, Robin Hood, Columbus, The Jungle Book and Sleeping Beauty, along with 11 full-length animated features such as King David, Hua Mulan and The Thief of Baghdad. The cartoon series collection is worth over US$40 million.

Some of the programming has already been sold to German TV. V.I.P. Entertainment & Merchandising (formerly V.I.P. Promotions) has worldwide distribution rights as well.

The deal also means the German licensing company will move into the merchandising of the new animated programming on video, CD-ROMs and DVDs.

V.I.P. Entertainment’s other properties include Star Wars, James Bond, Pippi Longstocking and Tarzan.
