Saban is continuing its breakneck Digimon promo blitz with a Taco Bell premium giveaway set for late summer and a spring tie-in with the Chicago, Illinois-based Jel Sert.
Millions of specially marked packs of Jel Sert freezer pops and powdered soft drinks will begin rolling out this month pushing a Fox Kids Digital Vacation instant-win contest. Fla-Vor-Ice freezer pops and Wyler’s and Flavor-Aid powered drink brands will participate, with a 30-second Digimon-themed ad hitting Fox Kids Network and Fox Family in May. A national FSI, in-store displays and an in-pack buy-two-get-one-free coupon for 24-count Fla-Vor-Ice pops in Bandai Digivolving yo-yos will support.
As expected, Nickelodeon’s Rugrats in Paris feature will follow the lead set by the original Rugrats Movie and tie in with Burger King for holiday 2000. A ‘sneak peek’ sweeps will kick off promos for the sequel this month.
Closer on the QSR promo radar is a BK tie-in with FUNimation Productions, the North American distributor of Dragonball Z, for a May 29 Kids Meal program featuring seven Dragonball Z character-based premiums. The premiums come with a trading card holder stand and card and will be supported by a 30-second U.S. national and cable TV spot. Dragonball Z currently airs in the Toonami block on Cartoon Network.
McDonald’s will follow its current Monopoly promo targeting Hispanics, African-Americans and tweens with another Power Rangers Happy Meal program launching April 20. A self-liquidating 3-D direct-to-video Power Rangers title produced by Fox for the tie-in marks a first for the property. Eleven premiums will be on offer, with in-store and kid media supporting until the promo winds up on May 28.
Subway is continuing to aim for the preschool set with another Blue’s Clues promo lasting until May 14. The Kids’ Pak promo features four premiums, including a friendship key chain, activity book, friendship bracelet and Skidoo picture frame. Nick Jr. will support with Best Friends stunt programming throughout the week beginning April 3.
