Aussie prodco Bogan Entertainment Solutions (BES) Animation has appointed fellow Oz company ValleyArm Digital to initiate the global digital content strategy for its popular 2D-animated series Kitty is Not a Cat.

The Sydney and Melbourne-based digital specialists will drive the 52 x 12-minute show’s growth, reach and engagement across a new YouTube channel and additional digital and social platforms.

ValleyArm will also link up with BES to create pieces of original short-form content that will complement the current season of the comedy series with weekly launches on YouTube. BES was previously working on eight x 90-second music videos, 15 x two-minute live-action dance classes and 52 x one-minute standalone interstitials for the series.

Aimed at six- to 10-year olds, Kitty is Not a Cat follows a group of stray cats as they take care of a little girl in an orange cat suit named Kitty.

The series made its broadcast debut in May on Australian free-to-air network 7TWO, and is now shown in 65 territories on networks including Disney Channel and Italy’s DeAKids.

London-based Jetpack holds the international distribution rights to the series excluding the Asia-Pacific region.

The deal follows BES Animation’s new project The Jan and Rai Show winning Best in Show at the 2017 Asian Animation Summit, and Turner Asia Pacific ordering a TV series based on BES’ hit TV movie Monster Beach, which bowed on Cartoon Network in 2015.
