Nickelodeon is expanding its popular live-action TV/film franchise The Thundermans with a new movie called Clash of the Thundermans in the works.
Filming was scheduled to start yesterday on the pic, which will premiere day and date on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ in 2026. Building on the sitcom’s story about a family of superheroes, the script explores what happens when one of the young Thundermans develops a dangerous new power, with the family split over how to handle this crisis.
Nick’s latest movie in the franchise, The Thundermans Return (pictured), premiered quite successfully last year. It racked up 1.6 million total viewers with four telecasts on Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite during its premiere weekend in March 2024.
Following that strong performance, Nickelodeon quickly greenlit live-action spinoff series The Thundermans: Undercover to launch in January 2025. This concept tags along with the three Thunderman kids as they go undercover to investigate suspicious activity at their school—and it recently cleaned up at Nick’s Kids Choice Awards.
Four seasons of original series The Thundermans ran on Nickelodeon from 2013 and 2018, and the brand connected with a new audience and saw a surge in popularity after launching on Netflix in Q4 2021, according to Nick.
