Marvel Studios was absent this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, which meant more room in the spotlight for other major brands. This huge four-day gathering celebrating comics and pop culture franchises attracts 130,000 visitors and is the largest event of its kind in the world. Here are some of the biggest kids industry announcements that made noise on the show floor this year.

MrBeast
Aussie toyco Moose Toys opened the show on Thursday by unveiling the first trailer for its 2D-animated MrBeast Lab: The Descent YouTube series with Studio Moshi. Announced in February, the show is an extension of Moose Toys’ MrBeast Lab line of collectibles and will star the ubiquitous YouTuber who teams up with a group of kids to create new monsters that can defeat an interdimensional force known as The Shroud. Moose also confirmed that the series will roll out in October on the Beast Animations YouTube channel.

Avatar: Seven Havens
Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko took to the stage at the Avatar: The Last Airbender 20th-anniversary panel to showcase the first official artwork from their Avatar: Seven Havens animated series. Nick greenlit this new 2D-animated title in February, and it follows a young earthbender named Pavi as she discovers she’s the latest Avatar and must repair damage done to the spiritual and physical worlds. Unlike past entries, the Avatar is now feared as a force of destruction that both worlds want to see eliminated.

TMNT meets Godzilla
Following comic crossovers with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the Justice League, Godzilla will take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as his next opponents. IDW is publishing this comic miniseries in November, and TMNT partner Playmates Toys will also roll out a wave of action figures reimagining the iconic turtles as Toho monsters (Leonardo in Godzilla form, for example, and Michelangelo merged with King Ghidorah).

Masters of the Universe x Transformers
Mattel has expanded its licensing relationship with Hasbro to create a crossover toy line for Masters of the Universe and Transformers. Only two figures were revealed at Comic-Con: Skeletor wearing new armor forged from Megatron, and He-Man’s trusted friend Man-at-Arms suiting up with gear from Bumblebee. These new SKUs and more will roll out to retailers worldwide in October.
Crunchyroll
Sony’s flagship anime streamer has partnered with multiple US theater chains to launch a monthly Anime Nights movie program that’s set to kick off in October. The first three films on its slate are: Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved; OVERLORD – A Celebration of the Anime’s 10th Anniversary; and Crunchyroll Anime Nights: Secret Sneak Peek!, which will give audiences a first look at some new anime titles heading to the platform.
