Warner Bros. Pictures has bought the rights to adapt actor-writer Chris Colfer’s New York Times bestselling book series The Land of Stories into a live-action feature film.

The studio behind Barbie and A Minecraft Movie has already attached Oscar nominated scribe Phil Johnston—who wrote Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph and sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet—to pen the script. Johnston’s upcoming projects include The Twits, an animated movie that’s on deck as a Netflix release sometime later this year.

The Land of Stories premise revolves around two young twins who are transported into a magical book where classic literary characters like Peter Pan and King Arthur come to life. Little, Brown and Company publishes the series, which spans 10 books that have sold more than 13 million copies in 35 countries.

Colfer started his career as an actor, starring on Fox’s YA series Glee, and he later wrote, produced and starred in the comedy/drama film Struck by Lightning, which he then turned into a YA novel.

Producer Emma Watts, the former president of Paramount Pictures, was responsible for bringing the books to Warner Bros. Pictures. She’s already producing an adaptation of another kids book series, Keeper of the Lost Cities, for the studio. Prior to Paramount, Watts was the president of production at 20th Century Studios, where she took The Maze Runner from page to big screen.

Watts and Colfer will produce The Land of Stories film together, with Colfer’s agent Rob Weisbach on board as an executive producer.
