Kids TV maven Gary Milne sets up shop

After a short hiatus, Gary Milne (Totally Spies!) is back in the game with Go Imagine Media, a London-based shingle that he quietly launched in March.

With this new venture, the former creative director of Banijay Kids & Family is offering support to clients at any point in a project’s lifecycle—from input during the concept stage and providing market insights, to helping to create engaging characters. “I’m focused on delivering the best creative, whether that means consulting on early development or partnering through to final production,” he tells Kidscreen.

Milne says his door is open to help projects resonate with all age groups, leveraging 15 years of experience making kids & family content. ‘In recent years, my focus has shifted more toward animation for TV broadcast and streaming platforms’, he says. “I’m hugely passionate about animation, but for me, it always begins with strong stories and compelling characters, regardless of format.”

Go Imagine Media already has a number of global clients on board—and the list may well be longer after Milne represented Go Imagine at last week’s Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield—but he can’t divulge more details about any of them just yet.

This is Milne’s first professional move since stepping down last July from a role at Banijay that he’s “immensely proud of”. Over the past eight months, he traveled to different parts of the world and fully embraced the chance to creatively recharge before returning to the UK early this year. “I came back with a renewed sense of purpose and a clear vision,” he says, “to build something of my own that could respond to the shifting media landscape.”

Milne was at Banijay Kids & Family for nearly 10 years, most recently serving as head of development and an executive producer on the revival of animated action series Totally Spies!—which has become a ratings success for France’s Gulli. His other kids TV credits at Banijay include The Unstoppable Yellow Yeti, Shasha & Milo and Mumfie.
