- Sesame Workshop has named DeAPlaneta Entertainment as its exclusive licensing agent for Sesame Street in Central and Eastern Europe. DeAPlaneta will manage all merchandising, publishing, home video, audio and promotional licensing related to the iconic franchise in the region. Its licensing portfolio already includes Miraculous, Heidi and Maya the Bee.
- CAKE has sold season three of 2D-animated series The Sisters (52 x 11 minutes) from Samka Productions to NDR in Germany. This comedy for six to 10s focuses on the dynamic between two sisters (ages seven and 13) who don’t always get along. France’s Samka co-produces the series, which now has a total of 156 11-minute episodes, with Bamboo Production for M6, Gulli and Canal+. KiKA will premiere season three in November.
- Sky UK and Spanish-language US channel Vme Kids have acquired South Korean preschool series PongPong Dino (pictured, 52 x seven minutes) from distributor Dandelooo. Produced by Dream Factory Studio, the CG-animated title will premiere sometime this year on both channels, as well as Sky’s streamer NOW. It features five kids who have adventures with fruit, jumping on cherries and swimming in watermelons, for example.
- Dynamite Entertainment, which publishes Disney comic series such as Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia, has inked a deal with Simon & Schuster to manage its book channel distribution. Simon & Schuster Distribution Services will oversee worldwide sales to book chains, independent bookstores, e-commerce platforms and libraries. Dynamite was previously distributed by the troubled Diamond Comic Distributors, but the two companies recently split and went to court over owed payments.
