The Christian studio's upcoming service will curate "family-safe" versions of hits and focus on programming that kids and parents can stream together.

Amid a boom in faith-inspired content, Christian banner Wonder Project is gearing up to roll out its own streaming channel on Prime Video in the US.

Launching this fall, the service by the same name is priced at US$8.99 per month and will offer original titles from the studio’s own catalogue, along with a larger library of acquisitions—more than 1,000 hours of series and films that align with Wonder Project’s value-driven brand.

While the company is keeping its content strategy under wraps, its official website hints at a co-viewing strategy underpinning at least part of the lineup. The channel will offer “family-safe” versions of popular movies and an originals slate that includes family comedies among other genres, the site says.

“As a mother, I can’t wait to have this shared viewing experience in my own home—through a brand we can truly call our own,” noted CEO Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten in a release, which emphasized that the service will actively “communicate whether content is safe for families.”

With faith-based entertainment on the rise, many studios and platforms are harnessing family appeal in their offerings to widen their reach by tapping into this subgenre. JustĀ  a few weeks ago, for example, Christian streamer Pure Flix set up a dedicated children’s content hub to cater to this rising market demand.

Wonder Project was founded in 2023 by chief content officer Jon Erwin, whose credits include sleeper hit Jesus Revolution (2023) and this year’s family feature The Unbreakable Boy. The studio raised more than US$75 million in seed and Series A funding from Lionsgate, UTA, Sovereign’s Capital, Powerhouse Capital and Jason Blum, among others.

While it may be a nascent player, Wonder Project has already built some buzz this year with its debut of House of David (pictured), a biblical live-action series created by Erwin and produced under a content deal with Amazon Studios. The show launched on Prime Video in February and has reached more than 40 million viewers to date. Leveraging this success, Wonder Project will drop a second season exclusively on its channel at launch to attract initial subscribers, with a wider Prime Video rollout scheduled for a later date.
