- Japanese QSR chain Mister Donut has inked its first licensing deal with Disney for a limited-time promotion that will run in more than 10,000 storefronts worldwide. Launching in July, the Disney Donut for Smile campaign plans to offer a wide range of original donuts inspired by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and product packaging will be Disney-branded as well. Mister Donut has inked similar deals in the past with popular kids brands including Pokémon, Minions and Hello Kitty.
- WEBTOON Entertainment has expanded its partnership with Dark Horse Comics and will adapt the publisher’s graphic novels The Legend of Korra and Plants vs Zombies into vertical-scrolling comics that are designed to be read on mobile devices. With Q3 release dates planned, this new deal builds on a pre-existing agreement between the two companies that has yielded Avatar: The Last Airbender webtoons that have been viewed more than 13 million times since March 2024.
- Le Petit Prince Licensing has appointed Nerd Agency to represent its namesake brand in Ukraine. Nerd will develop a new regional consumer products program for the 81-year-old IP, focusing initially on apparel, toys, books, homeware and gifts.
- In Annecy news, China’s Gold Valley Films has teamed up with Istanbul-based Siyah Marti Animation Studios to co-produce a CG-animated feature film called Nils Holgersson: The New Adventure. This pic is an adaptation of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf’s iconic children’s novel about a young boy who is transformed into an elf and must journey across Sweden with a flock of geese to earn back his human form.
