Disney Branded Television has ordered several new children’s series, specials and renewals for Disney Channel, Disney Jr. and Disney+.
Disney Jr. and Disney+ have greenlit the Brown Bag Films series Sam Witch from creator Mia Resella (Young Jedi Adventures, The Ghost and Molly McGee). It follows Sam, a young girl who’s learning to be a witch and solve problems with help from her magical pets. Brown Bag is making the show in association with Disney Jr. for Disney Branded Television.
Also headed for the streamer and preschool channel is the 45-minute special Dasher, from Trustbridge Entertainment, 9 Story Media Group and Brown Bag Films. Made in association with Disney Branded Television, this CG-animated special tells the story of one of Santa’s reindeer.
The previously announced La Chouette Compagnie series Dragon Striker (pictured) is also on the slate, and Disney provided a first look at this series today at Annecy. Created in association with Cyber Group Studios for Disney+ and Disney Channel, it focuses on a farm boy who attends a magical sports school and discovers his ability to be a legendary soccer player.
Disney has also renewed several long-form series—including Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends (season six), Superkitties (season four), Disney Jr. Ariel – The Little Mermaid (season two) and RoboGobo (season two)—and has re-upped its original shorts series Chibiverse (season four) and Playdate with Winnie the Pooh (season three).
