Canada’s public broadcaster has unveiled its kids programming slate for 2025/2026, and it includes a dance-centric live-action series for tweens and a collection of preschool shorts that will be produced in-house.

Apartment 11 Productions (Interstellar Ella) and Avenida Productions (The Outlaw League) teamed up to co-produce The Unstoppable Jenny Garcia (pictured, eight x 12 minutes), about a 13-year-old hip-hop dancer whose life turns upside down when she’s diagnosed with cancer. This project was adapted from Avenida’s French-language series Jenny, and Canadian author Catherine Hernandez (Scarborough) is behind the scripts. It’s in post-production now and will be delivered later this month to debut in the fall.

Also new this season is Hey Joojo!, a series of 30 shorts (one to three minutes long) for four- to six-year-olds that will see CBC Kids host Joojo Paintsil, his cousin and puppet Gary the Unicorn learning educational lessons through music and play.

There are a handful of previously announced titles rolling out on CBC Kids this fall, including 2D-animated reboot The Adventures of Toopy & Binoo (39 x seven minutes) from Echo Media and Huminah Huminah Animation; Dino Ranch: Island Explorers (26 x 22 minutes) from Boat Rocker and Industrial Brothers; and Aussie/Canadian co-pro Andrew the Big BIG Unicorn (40 x seven minutes) from Pirate Size Productions, Mainframe Studios and Infinite Studios. This 2D-animated series for preschoolers focuses on a rhino who lives his life as a giant unicorn.

And finally, CBC has renewed four series for fresh fall seasons: Happy Camper Media’s Mini-Jon and Mini-Maple (36 x four minutes); Verite Films’ Jeremy & Jazzy (22 x two minutes) and Playing with Stu (11 x one minute); and Gazelle Automations’ Go Togo (31 x five minutes).
