DeAPlaneta and Alpha Group team up for a Bernard reboot

Plans call for DeAPlaneta to manage distribution for all new content outside of Asia, while Alpha spearheads a global consumer products push.

DeAPlaneta Entertainment has signed an agreement with China’s Alpha Group to collaborate on a reboot of preschool IP Bernard.

This clumsy polar bear character made his market debut in 2006 as the star of a comedic CG-animated series (156 x three minutes) co-produced by Spain’s BRB International and RG Animation Studios in South Korea. Bernard still airs in more than 180 countries worldwide through Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Netflix. DeAPlaneta picked up rights to the IP when it acquired BRB International’s content catalogue in 2023.

Under its new agreement with Alpha Group, DeAPlaneta will distribute all future Bernard content outside of Asia, while Alpha focuses on developing new branding strategies and a global consumer products program for the brand. The Chinese company is well-equipped for the task, having developed Asian market IPs such as Petronix Defenders, Super Wings and Quantum Heroes: Dinoster into global brands.

Both partners believe Bernard still resonates strongly with audiences today. The IP’s official YouTube channel generates two million views a month for a total of more than two billion lifetime views since its launch in 2006.
