After more than a year of product development, Nike and The LEGO Group have finally unveiled a range of co-branded products and experiences that will roll out over the summer.
Their partnership will bear its first fruit on June 7, when the LEGOLAND California resort opens a new Nike and LEGO Play Arena where kids and families can design a trading card featuring their own LEGO minifigure, build a mini basketball jersey and shoot three-pointers on the on-site court.
Meanwhile, LEGO is launching an 1,180-piece Nike Dunk construction set on July 1 that tasks young sports fans with building a pair of basketball shoes out of bricks. Also included is a buildable basketball with secret compartments that kids can remove from the set to store their treasured belongings in.
For its part, Nike will roll out two waves of LEGO-branded apparel for kids and adults, starting on August 1 with a Nike Air Max Dn collection of shoes, sweaters and athletic wear that come bundled with an exclusive LEGO minifigure. This strategy will be replicated a month later for the launch of a Nike Dunk Low range that prominently features the LEGO brand and its blocky aesthetic.
LEGO and Nike signed a multi-year global partnership in August 2024, with the goal of creating new opportunities for kids and families to enjoy sports together. While the first products will focus primarily on basketball, football and soccer have also been earmarked as areas of interest for both brands.
