Hasbro launches Power Rangers shorts on YouTube

Mighty Morphin Minute is being positioned as a new franchise entry point for kids, and it supports Playmates' upcoming Re-Ignition toy range.

Hasbro has just dropped a new short-form series called Mighty Morphin Minute on YouTube as a way to get younger audiences hooked on the 32-year-old Power Rangers franchise.

These bite-size shorts feature recompiled episodes from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series (1993) that simplify the story and get viewers into the iconic action scenes more quickly. Episode one debuted on the Power Rangers YouTube channel today, with a whole bunch more lined up to roll out twice a week until December 9.

Mighty Morphin Minute is one part of a broader strategy to create new entry points for the Power Rangers franchise, which has been off screens since its last series Power Rangers Cosmic Fury wrapped up in 2023. Hasbro’s reboot plan also includes a new Power Rangers Re-Ignition toy line from partner Playmates that will roll out to retailers worldwide this fall, timed to coincide with the release of a full AI upscale of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series on Netflix.

In the background, Hasbro Entertainment is reportedly working on a new live-action Power Rangers show concept for Disney+ with Percy Jackson and the Olympians showrunners Jonathan Steinberg and Dan Shotz. This comes on the heels of Netflix backing out of producing a new series for the franchise last June that had been in development for two years.
