Moonbug Entertainment and Flywheel Media have secured a deal with Universal Pictures for the first-ever CoComelon feature film, with DreamWorks Animation attached as a producer and DNEG tapped to provide animation services.
Set for theatrical release in 2027, this CG-animated movie is inspired by the CoCoemlon series, with JJ and his friends going on a brand new adventure.
A theatrical pic is a major next step for the popular CoComelon brand, which has managed to expand well beyond its massive YouTube existence with a Netflix original series, the live show CoComelon LIVE! JJ’s Journey (which first premiered in 2021) and a broad consumer products program.
Flywheel Media was founded by former NBCUniversal exec Don McGregor and producer Dan Chuba. Its latest project is The Angry Birds 3.
This story has been updated to note the film will follow JJ and his friends going on a brand new adventure.
