The Cannes Film Market is just days away from kicking off, and more kids films seem primed for business at the annual event, which is running from May 13 to 21.
Known as the Marché du Film, this marketplace attracts roughly 12,500 film professionals, and nearly 4,000 films are presented there each year, spanning all genres and countries of origin. It takes place alongside the revered Cannes Film Festival—which has historically been a key event where award contenders start to generate buzz, as was the case for Flow, which launched at the festival in 2024 and went on to win this year’s Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
Kinology is poised to grab some attention as it meets with global buyers to push a recently rescued animated/live-action film. The Parisian distributor has been tapped as the international sales agent for Coyote vs. Acme (2026) by Ketchup Entertainment, which bought worldwide rights to the movie last month and is now busy finalizing its North American release, as per Deadline. While some footage will definitely be available for buyers to preview in meetings, a full market screening is also being considered to build hype for the project (which reportedly test-screened to highly positive results in 2023, scoring 14 points above the average for a family film).
CG-animated indie feature Mission Granny from Samsara Filmproduktion (Austria) and White Spot Films (Germany) is also seeking a first batch of deals in Cannes, well ahead of its Q1 2028 delivery. It was announced today that Global Constellation is on board to handle international sales for the film about two tweens on a mission to save their kidnapped grandmother, who’s been hiding her double life as a secret agent.
Animal Farm—from Imaginarium Studios, Aniventure and Cinesite—is staging its world premiere at Annecy International Film Festival next month, but the British feature will make a quick stop at Cannes first so its new international sales agent Goodfellas Animation can broker some initial deals. Directed by Andy Serkis, this is the third animated adaptation of the classic 1945 George Orwell novel, which has been a literary staple in classrooms for older kids for decades.
And as previously announced in Kidscreen Daily, StudioCanal is starting its international sales effort for Aardman’s threequel Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom at Cannes; and Archstone Entertainment, which recently locked down worldwide rights to Saurus City (produced by Suspended Animation Studios, 405 Productions and Bonfire Entertainment), is bringing the CG-animated fantasy with a star-studded voice cast that includes Emma Roberts, Dennis Quaid and Ron Perlman.
