Texas-based studio Brazen Animation is expanding into interactive entertainment with the launch of its new gaming division.
Brazen Games will initially focus on creating originals and offering full-scale game development services to third parties that want to create story-driven offerings. Brazen founder and CEO Bryan Engram says this is a natural next step for the studio, given that it’s been collaborating for a decade with gaming clients including Riot Games, Wizards of the Coast, Epic Games, Activision Blizzard and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Engram and the rest of Brazen’s senior leadership team will set strategic plans for both the core animation studio and the games division. But the company also hired former Disney Imagineering director Ben Sanders two months ago to serve as its first head of studio pipeline and technology.
Brazen Games is currently developing two projects. The first, in collaboration with Christian book publisher Story Warren, is an adventure game for kids & families based on S. D. Smith’s The Green Ember fantasy book series (which has sold more than 1.5 million copies to date). Expected to launch later this year, Green Ember: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb (pictured) puts players in the role of a rabbit who must defeat an ancient evil force that has arisen to destroy the kingdom of Natalia.
Brazen is also working on an original platformer featuring its signature dynamic animation and gameplay choices that affect how the overall narrative plays out.
