Liquid Rock Entertainment tapped to sell BabyTV’s catalogue worldwide

EXCLUSIVE: Xavi Mas and Roberto Mitrani's fledgling distributor is now handling more than 100 series that have never been distributed beyond BabyTV platforms before.

Barcelona-based Liquid Rock Entertainment is now the exclusive global content distributor for the catalogue of international preschooler-targeted content brand BabyTV, tasked with building the channel’s market presence and delivering programming at volume to streamers, TV and YouTube.

BabyTV’s portfolio includes more than 100 series. Its programming includes a broad variety of content for toddlers and the under-six demo, including 2D and CG animation, nursery rhymes and educational videos — much of which has been localized into 17 languages. BabyTV’s titles include Charlie & the Numbers, Billy Bam Bam, Cuddlies and Olly.

However, the catalogue has never been available beyond BabyTV’s television channel or app before. According to Liquid Rock co-founder Xavi Mas, this marks a significant opportunity for the distributor to bring the channel’s programming to buyers for the first time.

“BabyTV has a big lineup, which is technically available for a second-run premiere everywhere, and we can really provide [a variety of] solutions,” Mas tells Kidscreen. These range from volume needs to low localization solutions (because localization might be done already) and parent acceptance, because all of BabyTV’s content has kidSAFE certifications — meaning that a third party has reviewed and approved its content as safe for kids.

With BabyTV turning 20 this month, the channel is also amping up its marketing. The increased visibility tied to the anniversary makes it a great time to shop BabyTV’s large catalogue, adds Mas.

Mas and Ypsilon Films co-founder Roberto Mitrani teamed up to co-found Liquid Rock in September of 2024. They bring decades of experience in the industry — Mas was formerly with distributor PGS Entertainment for nine years, selling kids programming such as Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks. Meanwhile, Mitrani has sold well-known titles such as Hey Duggee and Ghostforce through Ypsilon, a company he started roughly 15 years ago.

Liquid Rock’s first presentation of the BabyTV catalogue to prospective buyers will be at MIFA in June.

The deal marks the latest in a string of partnerships Mas and Mitrani have signed in recent months, including a co-production agreement with MGA Entertainment’s Pixel Zoo studio for the series The Secret Explorers, which the distributors aim to put into production by the end of this year.

Mitrani maintains that snagging BabyTV is a major step for Liquid Rock, since the channel is already available internationally in more than 100 countries.

“The carriage has been global, so this already has a successful track record [and companies] want to have the Baby TV brands,” he says.
