It’s just two days into April, and Disney has already gotten a jump on Earth Month with the launch of its now-annual ourHOME campaign led by Nat Geo. The first edition ran last year, but the Mouse House is building more touchpoints with families as it once again spotlights nature and conservation efforts.
For starters, Disney has teased “ourHOME-themed programming” running throughout the month of April across all of its networks, including Nat Geo, Disney Jr. and Disney Channel.
Brand-new content releases for the initiative include three wildlife titles with co-viewing appeal. Nat Geo’s Secrets of the Penguins (pictured) is launching on April 20, followed two days later by Disneynature’s Sea Lions of the Galapagos and a behind-the-scenes companion feature (Guardians of the Galapagos) dropping on Disney+.
Meanwhile, select restaurants at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts will offer themed kids menus and photo moments geared around Secrets of the Penguins to attract young guests.
Disneyland app users will also be able to vote for their favorite recycled art projects created by Disneyland Resort cast members this month. And a “Celebrate Earth Month Fair” is set to take place in Disneytown at the Shanghai Disney Resort from April 18 to April 22, hosting everything from themed booths to interactive activities.
Additionally, the Disney Conservation Fund will award US$500,000 in philanthropic grants this month to multiple nonprofit orgs that are working to provide “inspirational experiences for youth to connect with nature and support wildlife” in their communities. These include programs like Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots (Jane Goodall Institute) and Party for the Planet (Association of Zoos and Aquariums).
