  • France Télévisions has greenlit French studio Vivement Lundi!’s stop-motion special Super-Lucha. The 26-minute one-off blends anime and stop-motion styles in a Mexican aesthetic to tell the story of a 10-year-old boy who comes from a long line of Super-Luchadores and teams up with his best friends to fight evil. Distributor Autour de Minuit will handle international sales for the special, which is directed by Mexican-born animator Goulwen Merret and produced by Vivement Lundi!’s Mathieu Courtois.

  • BBC Children’s and Education has picked up Rainbow’s Gormiti – The New Era (pictured, 20 x 22 minutes) to launch in the UK on CBBC and iPlayer sometime this spring. This live-action adventure series stars four young heroes who have to save Earth and a fantasy world from destruction. The Gormiti brand was first introduced in 2005 as a toy range from Grani & Partners and Giochi Preziosi, and it went on to spawn animated series Gormiti and Gormiti Nature Unleashed. Clan (Spain), Gulli (France), RAI (Italy) and Nickelodeon (Greece) have already picked up Gormiti – The New Era.

  • Scallywag Press has signed new language translation deals in Norway, France, Sweden and Israel for writer/producer Jeff Norton’s Dino Knights chapter book series ahead of the third book’s April 10 release date. The former head of Waterside Studios has a history of successfully adapting books for TV, including Geek Girl (Netflix and Corus) and his current project, Finding Her Edge (Netflix and WildBrain).
