Major YouTubers, many of them with kids audiences, got together yesterday at the first-ever upfront-style Spotter Showcase event to present their upcoming content to a crowd of advertisers.
Uber-popular YouTubers MrBeast and Dude Perfect (pictured) were joined by Ryan Trahan (known for his Penny series about living on a penny), Jordan Matter (his teenage daughter Salish makes comedy vids), Rebecca Zamolo (who produces comedy-focused vids with her family) and others, to share their new plans for reaching the kids and family audience at the inaugural showcase.
Stunt- and challenge-based YouTuber MrBeast (379 million subscribers) is bringing back his gaming channel, MrBeast Gaming (46.9 million subscribers) and will also be launching a new adventure and competition series, along with celebrity collaborations and a new behind-the-scenes series exploring how he makes his vids.
Sports-focused group Dude Perfect (60 million subscribers)—which is looking to grow in the kids market with new content and deals—is teaming up with WNBA star Caitlin Clark for a series of new basketball videos. The Dudes are also creating new episodes for their Dude Perfect vs. series, where they challenge sports all-stars and Olympians. And they’ll also be running their second Trick Shot World Championship in June, with the best trick-shot YouTubers competing.
Rebecca Zamolo (18.2 million subscribers) is a creator and actress who’s expanding her family-friendly content with a series of back-to-school videos that will launch on her seven channels. These include the comedic ZamFam Back-To-School Survival Guide (which run from July to September).
A few YouTubers also explained how their brands were growing beyond YouTube. Ryan Trahan (19.4 million subscribers) revealed that his candy brand JOYRIDE is expanding beyond Target in the US, making its way into Whole Foods and Kroger’s for the first time. And Jordan Matter is expanding his channel into skincare through a deal with Sephora for a line called Sincerely Yours, launching this summer. His 15-year-old daughter Salish Matter is the star of the Jordan Matter channel, which has 28.9 million subscribers. This young influencer makes videos like “Sneaking Into ALL BOYS SCHOOL” which already has close to 10 million views after only five days.
The YouTubers presented to a crowd of more than 150 advertising and marketing executives in an in-person event in New York City yesterday. The YouTubers who presented are clients of California-based Spotter, which provides upfront financing to creators in exchange for licensing their older videos. Since launching in 2019, Spotter has given YouTube creators more than US$940 million to accelerate their growth. And in October, Amazon invested in Spotter, with the aim of helping these up-and-coming creators expand into new opportunities, including retail.
