REPORT: Gen Alphas want to see the world and are hopeful about the future

EXCLUSIVE: Kids social media platform Zigazoo and McCrindle have captured a snapshot of how seven- to 15-year-olds learn, and their aspirations.
March 25, 2025

Social media app Zigazoo and research firm McCrindle teamed up to get a sense of Gen Alpha’s learning habits and goals, finding that most kids ages seven to 15 (36%) learn by watching videos.

Vids handily beat out other means by which kids in this demo learn, including hands-on activities (19%), games and apps (16%), group discussions (16%) and reading books (13%).

This new data comes from a survey Zigazoo ran in February that collected a range of 1,100 to 3,379 responses (the number of responses varied depending on the question) from kids in the seven-to-15 age bracket in the US. McCrindle then turned the survey results into a brief infographic it released today, called Inside the mind of Generation Alpha

Globally, Gen Alpha is the largest generation in history, with more than 2.1 billion people born between 2010 and 2024—so the industry needs to understand this demo, according to the companies.

The study also provides a sense of Gen Alpha’s saving habits—most (46%) will spend a little and save a little, while 27% will definitely save their pocket money and 15% will definitely spend it. (The other 12% are split evenly between maybe saving their money and maybe spending it.)

As this generation grows up and enters the workforce, one in three (34%) want to travel to different places for their jobs. Following close behind is the 30% who want to work from home using a computer, while 24% would like to work in an office with a team, and only 12% see themselves working outdoors.

Kids are also looking towards the future with hope rather than concern. Most (40%) are very hopeful about the future, while 25% are a little bit worried, 23% are a little bit hopeful and only 12% are very worried, according to the survey.
