Deals in Brief – March 18, 2025

LEGO will roll out its first licensed Pokémon construction sets next year, and Rainbow Group has optioned the film rights to Wattpad YA web novel series Game of Gods.

  • The Pokémon Company International has inked a new licensing deal that will see The LEGO Group manufacture and distribute its first Pokémon building sets worldwide next year. Looking at the IP’s history in this product category, Mattel secured the rights to produce Pokémon construction sets in 2018 and has since released a wide range of buildable figures, playsets and collectibles under its MEGA Blocks brand.

 

  • Italy’s Rainbow Group has optioned the film rights to Hazel Riley’s Game of Gods YA fantasy web novels from Wattpad Webtoon Studios. The three-title series has generated more than 6.8 million reads on Wattpad’s platform in less than two years, retelling the famous Greek myths of Hades and Persephone, but in a modern-day Yale University setting.

 

  • Textiles manufacturer Poetic Brands has picked up a new Peanuts apparel license from Peanuts Worldwide, and will roll out a new range of branded babywear and accessories featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the gang across the UK in spring 2026. 

 

  • With Titmouse working on a Craniacs animated series for kids ages six to 12, Titan Comics has signed on to produce a new comic book line based on Ira Friedman Enterprise’s trading card game. Craniacs first hit the market in 2023 with an initial TCG deck depicting two civilizations of skull-headed characters facing off against one another in wacky tournaments and competitions in the Chrome Dome arena.
