Deals in Brief – March 13, 2024

Little Engine Distribution closes new content sales in the US and Asia Pacific, and Thumbs Up! will roll out a Care Bears digital pet to retailers in Q3.

  • Canada’s Little Engine Distribution has signed several new broadcast deals for its own series and also a pair of shows produced by Imagine Create Media (I Love, Space Kids). In the US, HITN has picked up Cutie Pugs (pictured), I Love and Now You Know in both Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, while public broadcaster V-Me acquires Tiny and Tall and I Love in Spanish. Meanwhile, ABC Australia renewed its rights to Space Kids, and South Korea’s Daekyo has reupped Cutie Pugs.

 

  • Serial Maven Studios has picked up global distribution rights to a CG-animated preschool series called Chums (nine x 22 minutes) from Canadian co-producers Paxolotl Media and Zoot Pictures. This toon about a young girl exploring the world and Indigenous traditions with her animal friends was commissioned by Canada’s Aboriginal Peoples Televisions Network in 2023.

 

  • Thumbs Up! has partnered with Cloudco Entertainment to produce a new digital pet for kids ages six to 12 featuring the iconic Care Bears brand. The device will roll out to retailers worldwide in Q3, featuring a wide range of gameplay options including collecting Care Bears characters, nurturing/feeding them, and playing interactive mini-games. 

 

  • Banijay Kids & Family has inked two new licensing deals for Topo Gigio. Italian toyco Faba will roll out a new interactive figure in the iconic mouse character’s likeness for its Storyteller audio system in July, while Soluna Experience develops branded experiences and activations for the Italian market.
