With the next edition of Cartoon Forum just six months away, the annual pitching and co-pro event has officially opened its submission window today.
Held each year in the French city of Toulouse, 2025’s animation showcase is scheduled to take place from September 15 to 18. It will spotlight TV series and specials in early development, giving producers an opportunity to pitch their work and connect with potential co-producers, buyers and other partners. The event focuses on projects that hail from European producers and countries associated with Creative Europe MEDIA—Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway and the Republic of Serbia.
Projects can target any age group—including preschoolers, bridge audiences, tweens, teen/YA, family and adult audiences—but their total runtime should be at least 26 minutes to be considered, featuring a minimum of 50% animation rendered in any style or technique. In addition, while projects cannot be fully financed, they must be supported by a written statement of interest from a broadcaster or streamer.
Producers should also bear in mind that only one project submission per company is permited—and withdrawing a project after June 24 will require a fee payment of US$1,092 (EUR€1000). Studios and creators interested in submitting a project for consideration should do so via Cartoon’s online portal by May 7.
Cartoon Forum’s selection committee considers various factors to determine which projects will be part of the event’s program each year, including European origin, creative potential and originality, and commercial potential in Europe and international markets.
According to the event website, “In order to meet the objectives of the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme, and notably the cultural and geographical diversity, Cartoon Forum’s Selection Committee will pay particular attention to projects from countries that have a low audiovisual production capacity, and those promoting sustainability, inclusion and diversity.”
