WOW Stuff! had a strong showing at the 25th-annual Toy of the Year Awards (TOTY) ceremony in New York on Friday night, winning both Toy of the Year and Tech Toy of the Year with its RealFX Disney Stitch Puppetronic (pictured) SKU.

This animatronic puppet is based on the blue alien co-star of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch franchise, and it was the only product to win more than one award this year.

The coveted License of the Year award went to BBC Studios for Bluey; Mattel took home Game of the Year with UNO Show ’em No Mercy; and Hasbro won Action Figure of the Year with Transformers One Power Flip Optimus Prime (Orion Pax), which is based on the new Transformers One feature film.

ZURU scored a Creative Toy of the Year award for its contribution to the tiny food trend with Mini Brands Create: MasterChef, which kids can use to create dishes including ramen and an apple pie.

Decided by consumers through online voting, the People’s Choice award went to Story Time Learning’s Story Time Backgammon, a board game that teaches kids ages three and up how to play the classic dice-based game.

During the TOTY ceremony, the Toy Industry Hall of Fame also inducted former Build-A-Bear Workshop CEO Maxine Clark, Learning Express Toys founder Sharon DiMinico and Erno Rubik, inventor of the Rubik’s Cube.

The Toy Association runs the TOTYs, which are designed to celebrate the US toy industry and the US$42 billion in annual business it generates, according to the org.
