- Serious Kids has acquired global distribution rights to Dyehouse Films’ The Unreal (four x 24 minutes, pictured), a live-action family thriller miniseries that has been renewed for a second season by RTÉ. It follows a family on vacation at a woodland campsite that discovers a strange VHS tape and accidentally unleashes a strange character called The Pooka into the real world.
- Florida-based toyco Just Play is expanding into games with two newly signed deals with Hasbro and Sony Pictures Television. The Hasbro partnership will revive nostalgic game brands Skip-It (1963) and Simon (1978) at retail with new editions rolling out in the first half of the year. And with Sony, Just Play will launch new board and card game versions of Wheel of Fortune and Pop Culture Jeopardy in the fall.
- Home Chef has partnered with Nickelodeon to develop a new SpongeBob SquarePants meal kit delivery promotion for families that will run throughout March. Subscribers to the service will be able to choose several easy-to-cook recipes inspired by the series, including a Krusty Krab Pizza flatbread, a Pineapple Under the Sea burger and Plankton’s “holographic” beef meatloaf.
