It was a double victory for the Wallace & Gromit team during the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards, held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 16.

Not only did Aardman’s Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (pictured) take home the trophy for Animated Film, it also became the first winner of Best Children’s and Family Film, a new category that was added this year.

Across both categories, it beat out The Wild Robot and Flow, which have emerged as frontrunners this award season. Lupus Films’ Kensuke’s Kingdom rounded out the inaugural nominees for Best Children’s and Family Film, while Pixar’s Inside Out 2 was also in the running for Animated Film.

However, Wallace & Gromit lost Outstanding British Film to the papal political thriller Conclave.

The latest feature from the classic stop-motion franchise, Vengeance Most Fowl landed on BBC on Christmas Day (racking up 21.6 million views in 28 days) and rolled out globally on Netflix last month (debuting in the global top 10 films with 4.6 million views).

Also boasting double BAFTA wins was Universal’s live-action musical Wicked, which earned top honors for Costume Design and Best Production Design. Wicked has generated nearly US$727 million in ticket sales since hitting theaters on US Thanksgiving weekend.

The full list of winners is available on the BAFTA website.
