Hoho Entertainment and Wild Child Animation are developing a Toad & Friends film

This Wind in the Willows adaptation already has The Black Sheep writing team and consulting director Robert Chandler on board.

Hoho Entertainment and Wild Child Animation have joined forces to develop their first feature film. Toad & Friends is based on Kenneth Grahame’s classic 1908 novel The Wind in the Willows, which has sold more than 85 million copies in 29 languages worldwide.

This is familiar source material for partners that have already co-produced a CG-animated Toad & Friends series (pictured, 52 x 11 minutes) that was picked up by Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA in 2022. It premiered last year on Boomerang in the UK, and is poised to join Boomerang and Max in the US early this year.

Producer/director Robert Chandler (The Amazing Maurice) is consulting on the film adaptation, with writing team The Black Sheep (Ciaran Murtagh and Andrew Barnett-Jones) penning the script. Screen Scotland is financing the film’s development.
