Halle Stanford, the Emmy Award-winning former president of television at The Jim Henson Company, is returning to the world of independent production with the relaunch of her company, 7 Crow Stories—and she has already secured a first-look producing deal with Henson, where she worked for 30 years.
Under this agreement, Stanford will develop a range of live-action and animated projects aimed at preschool, family and primetime audiences. Among her upcoming productions are Goblins with Norman Reedus; the animated adaptation of Lore Olympus; and Adrenaline Lemmings, a series for older kids. Stanford will also play a key role in expanding the Fraggle Rock universe.
Another project in the works is Jim Henson’s Wowsabout!, a live-action puppet series for preschoolers that Stanford co-created with Dorien Davies. Set to begin production this summer, it follows the adventures of Roxy (a guitar-playing hedgehog) and Ronald (a nature-loving pig), integrating research from UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center to encourage curiosity and wonder.
Stanford joined The Jim Henson Company in 1993, working on projects such as Muppet Treasure Island, Muppets Tonight, Bear in the Big Blue House and Farscape. She founded 7 Crow Stories in 2000, focusing on children’s content and rebranding franchises, before returning to Henson in 2003.
“I’ve had the incredible privilege to stand next to the Dark Crystal, party down in Fraggle Rock, and now, I’m beyond excited to produce my dream show, Jim Henson’s Wowsabout!, take flight with my company, 7 Crow Stories, and dedicate myself to creating series that inspire awe, action, and imagination.” said Stanford, who added that she was “deeply grateful for this new chapter” with The Jim Henson Company.
