- Public broadcaster ABC has picked up the rights to Can Can Productions’ upcoming live-action sports comedy series High Hoops (10 x 30 minutes). Commissioned by CBBC last June, the show follows the journey of an accident-prone basketball player who tries to turn the sub-par team at her new school into a slam-dunking powerhouse on the court.
- Dandelooo has switched production partners for its upcoming 2D-animated comedy series Hold on Gaston! (52 x 11 minutes) from Canal+ to TFOU. First announced as Gaston Gets It! in June 2023, the show focuses on a young unicorn whose mane changes color depending on his emotions.
- Project First has engaged Anjar Co. & Becker Associates as the new licensing agent for its tentpole preschool series Leo the Truck. With more than 23 billion views on YouTube, Anjar & Becker will translate the IP into several product categories, including toys, vehicles, games, publishing and apparel.
- Newsela has acquired the educational streaming platform Generation Genius from CEO Dr. Jeff Vinokur and co-founder Eric Rollman. Valued at US$100 million (including cash and performance-based payments), the deal will let Newsela bolster its educational content platform with engaging math and science lessons from Generation Genius, which is used in more than 30% of US elementary schools.
