France’s Superprod Group has announced a new content merger with Watch Next Media’s Kids First distribution subsidiary.
The acquisition builds on a deal that saw Superprod take a majority ownership stake in Watch Next last October in order to bolster its development and production capabilities.
Going forward, all content that was previously distributed by Kids First will now be sold by Superights, Superprod’s international sales division. The Kids First catalogue boasts more than 1,000 half hours of live action and animation, including Hello Kitty Superstyle! (52 x 11 minutes, pictured), Nate is Late (104 x 11 minutes), Geronimo Stilton (78 x 26 minutes) and Peanuts (104 x seven minutes).
Kids First has also been rebranded as Kids First Digital and will focus on monetizing the catalogue on VOD platforms, increasing visibility for third-party IPs, and expanding its digital channel publishing capabilities. It currently manages 21 YouTube channels in four different languages, including Nate is Late (263,000 subscribers), Boy, Girl, Etc. (51,000 subscribers) and Kids First Channel (7,500 subscribers), which generated more than 125 million views last year.
