Keeping busy on the heels of announcing a buzzy deal to develop content based on a toy line called Eldrador Creatures, Germany’s Toon2Tango has just signed a new agreement to co-produce and sell Serbian studio Metaxilasis’ upcoming preschool series ThinkerBen and Motor (pictured).

This 2D toon revolves around a young engineer and his robotic dog, who use STEAM skills to help the residents of Wowtown with some pretty wacky problems, such as recovering a lost dinosaur and stopping a rocket-swiping monkey.

Toon2Tango will distribute the first season of ThinkerBen (26 x 11 minutes) everywhere except Eastern Europe, Russia and CIS, as well as co-producing season two. United Media Group has picked up the rights to air the series in six Balkan countries while Central Media Entertainment’s POP TV will roll out the show in Slovenia. Season one is currently in production to deliver in August.

ThinkerBen is also competing as a finalist in the first-ever Kidscreen Licensing Challenge—a new competition showcase spotlighting kids IPs with untapped licensing potential. A grand-prize winner will be chosen by a judging panel of highly experienced licensing industry execs at Kidscreen Summit next week.

Metaxilasis, which is best known for its animation work on ZeptoLab’s On Nom Stories series, has been more focused on originals of late. In addition to ThinkerBen, the studio pitched The Fabulous Piglini at Cartoon Forum last year.
