Former JAM Media chief commercial officer John Reynolds has launched a new consulting company called Flip Side Media to help kids & family content-makers secure funding, set up co-productions and tap into business development support.
Based in Dublin, Flip Side is particularly well-positioned to assist clients in hunting for financing across Ireland, the UK and the EU, and it can also negotiate distribution deals on their behalf, says Reynolds. The firm is already working with a few companies, but prefers to keep their names confidential for now.
Reynolds has more than three decades of experience in the kids media industry. He worked in sales and business development at Cookie Jar and Millimages, and then headed up the commercial team at Irish animation studio Jam Media as CCO for more than five years.
In 2020, Reynolds branched out to launch production company Sow You Entertainment with Lena Byrne and Chris Dicker. He plans to continue working with Sow You, which currently has several projects in development, including a preschool series called Mondays with Maddy.
Reynolds made the decision to launch Flip Side in response to discussions he had with creators and producers, who expressed that they lacked in-depth knowledge about financing, distribution and commercial exploitation. “In today’s challenging market, financing children’s content requires more than great ideas—it demands smart strategy, strong partnerships and creative deal-making,” says Reynolds. “I can help creators, studios and investors navigate these complexities, secure sustainable funding and build long-term success.”
