Circana has announced the results of its 14th-annual Toy Industry Performance Awards, and The LEGO Group has three-peated as Global Toy Manufacturer of the Year, capturing this title for a third straight year.
Looking at the US, Europe, Canada, Brazil and Mexico, Circana’s awards program celebrates the year’s top-performing toys, brands and manufacturers in each of these regions based on sales data collected throughout 2024 by its Retail Tracking Service.
LEGO also dominated the building set super-category, with its LEGO Botanicals line scoring top sales in every territory except Brazil, as well as winning Top-Gaining Toy Property of the Year status (for achieving the biggest annual increase in sales) in Mexico and Europe. And its 822-piece Botanicals Bouquet of Roses set was the year’s Top-Selling Building Set Toy in Canada and the US.
Circana singled out the 29-year-old Pokémon franchise as 2024’s Global Toy Property of the Year, and it also picked up Top Property awards in the US and Canada. Despite these major wins, the only individual Pokémon product to score an award was the Pokémon TCG Scarlet and Violet 151 Ultra Premium Collection booster set, in the Games and Puzzles super-category for Canada.
Not to be left in the dust, Mattel’s Hot Wheels brand collected 10 awards this year, including the coveted Global Top-Selling Toy of the Year for its 1:64 assortment of single-pack vehicles. This isn’t surprising, given that this Hot Wheels product came out on top in the vehicles super-category across all five of Circana’s tracked markets.
