- After 20 years with Disney, Jennifer Rogers-Doyle (pictured) has joined Sony Pictures Entertainment to take on a newly created EVP of franchise management role. Her responsibilities include heading up franchise strategy and revenue growth for series such as Cobra Kai and The Boys. She started on Monday and reports to SPT Studios president Katherine Pope. At Disney, Rogers-Doyle was SVP of Disney Entertainment Networks franchise, licensing and integrated planning.
- Aardman has hired ex-BBC Studios head of digital creative Kenny England as director of digital, social and communities. And Amy Pearson also joins the company as director of marketing, with experience at Beano Studios and Turner under her belt.
- Real-time CG animation studio Mindshow—which counts Mattel (Hot Wheels and Barbie) as a client—has hired former Hulu exec David Baron as its new COO. Based in LA, Mindshow launched four years ago as an animation service company, but has recently started producing software for licensing, including an application that turns live-action motion-capture content into animation, and lip-sync technology for animated characters. Mindshow recruited Baron (who previously headed up Hulu’s content business operations and digital supply chain as a VP) to help the company navigate this evolution.
- With Disney and Mattel among its licensing partners, manga publisher Tokyopop has hired Owais Farooqui as director of marketing and sales. Farooqui previously worked at Discovery Channel (senior director of marketing) and Atari (SVP of digital publishing).
