German toyco Schleich has inked a co-production deal with Toon2Tango to develop a content universe based on its Eldrador Creatures fantasy action toy line.
Toon2Tango has already started developing a 52 x 11-minute CG-animated series and a collection of companion short videos. But eventually, the German studio plans to also conceptualize and produce Eldrador apps, YouTube content, films and live-action series.
Schleich’s toy line, which is designed for kids between the ages of six and 10, debuted at retail in North America and Europe in 2019, featuring a wide range of mystical creatures including dragons, golems, griffins, giant insects, dinosaurs and animals. The lore of the IP is that each of these beasts inhabits a very different world (lava, ice, stone, jungle and shadow, for example) that harbors a crystal super-weapon—and the Creatures are battling each other to capture these weapons and gain control of the entire realm of Eldrador.
Seven- to nine-year-old boys are the franchise’s core fanbase, and Schleich says 58% of this demo in North America and Europe is familiar with the IP and its products.
This new partnership comes on the heels of Germany’s Wild River Games announcing last week that it will launch a digital version of lead game Eldrador Creatures: Shadowfall (pictured) on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation consoles and Xbox Series X/S devices on March 6. A physical release is set to follow on April 11.
