Mercury Filmworks’ latest series Goldie (13 x 30 minutes) has managed to land a coveted spot on streamer Apple TV+, which is gearing up to launch the 2D toon on February 14.

Based on a same-name 2019 short film, Goldie is about a young female giant who often feels out of place in a normal-sized world—until she realizes that being different is good and there’s plenty of room for everyone.

Hilda story editor Emily Brundige independently wrote, directed and produced this one-off, which screened at several festivals in 2019 and 2020, winning two awards at the Los Angeles Animation Festival. She also created the series concept for six- to 11-year-olds and is an executive producer on the project, along with Mercury Filmworks founder/CEO Clint Eland. Graham MacDonald (Mickey Mouse) has a director credit, with head writer Ben Greene (Hilda) penning the scripts.

Goldie joins Camp Snoopy (WildBrain), Frog and Toad (Titmouse) and Yo Gabba GabbaLand! (WildBrain and Yo Gabba Gabba) in Apple TV+’s kids & family library.
