The shortlist for the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards has been released, and kids & family features had a particularly strong showing.

Aardman Animations’ Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (pictured above) and DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot each picked up three nominations. Both films will compete for Best Animated Film and Best Children’s & Family Film, a new category added this year. Vengeance Most Fowl also made the shortlist in the Outstanding British Film category, and The Wild Robot was nominated for Best Original Score.

Indie Latvian-French-Belgian co-pro Flow scored nods for Best Animated Film and Best Children’s & Family Film. But interestingly, Disney’s blockbuster Inside Out 2 was only nominated once (Best Animated Film).

Flow picked up two nominations in Best Animated Film and Best Children’s & Family Film.

Universal Pictures’ live-action family film Wicked, which was overlooked for Best Film, was shortlisted seven times and did especially well in the technical BAFTA categories such as production design, sound and VFX.

BAFTA nominees and winners (which will be announced at a February 16 award ceremony) are determined by a global voting membership that includes more than 8,100 film industry professionals.

A full shortlist is available on the official BAFTA website.
