Warner Bros. Discovery is expanding the remits of two executives on the US Networks side of its business, which is soon to be headed up by Channing Dungey. The US Networks group includes Discovery, Cartoon Network, Animal Planet, HGTV and TLC.
Howard Lee, who was president and head of content at TLC and Discovery, now adds CCO of US Networks to his portfolio. In his new role, he’ll oversee content strategy on linear networks and the Max streaming service, as well as global content licensing and partnerships. Meanwhile, Brett Paul has added the title of COO of US Networks, in addition to his existing role as Warner Bros. TV Group president. His new duties will include a focus on leading business affairs and digital strategy.
Paul and Lee will both report to Dungey, who—as previously announced in August—will take the reins next month from soon-to-retire chairman and CEO of US Networks Kathleen Finch. Alongside this upcoming role, Dungey will continue to serve as chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. TV Group.
“This powerful group will work to redefine the role of the US Networks by fortifying our linear business while continuing to develop a content engine that feeds Max and creates shows that smartly leverage and promote our unparalleled IP,” said Dungey.
This announcement comes on the heels of Warner Bros. Discovery revealing plans for a new corporate structure last week, setting a clearer divide between its linear business and the streaming and content side that will be established by mid-2025.
In related news, the media conglom’s CEO, David Zaslav, sold 2.564 million of his shares in the company on December 16 at US$11.73 per share, according to an SEC filing.
