Cloudco’s Care Bears plant their flag in tagSpace’s AR app

The mixed-reality experience lets kids take smartphone photos and videos with their favorite bears.

Cloudco Entertainment has partnered with Australian software developer tagSpace, which operates a mixed-reality app that now features the Care Bears prominently.

The tagSpace platform is offering a mix of free and paid Care Bears experiences, including a fun photo tool that lets kids use their smartphone camera to take pics and videos of themselves with Grumpy Bear, Funshine Bear and other Care-a-Lot regulars in the background.

This is a groundbreaking partnership for tagSpace, which has recently pivoted its app’s business model to develop direct-to-consumer experiences with brand owners, says founder and CEO Paul Martin. Prior to this shift, the company was focused on working with Australian live event clients including Telstra (Marvel Stadium) and Warner Music Group (Melody concert) to develop CG-animated character zones where guests could use their phones to do things like interact with Iron Man and watch the Millennium Falcon take off from the middle of a stadium field.

TagSpace launched its app in 2022, and it also serves as a social media platform where users can share their experiences with friends, create and monetize their own 3D characters and outfits, and purchase new experiences.
