Morgana and Digitoonz Spain team up to build a YugiBao universe

The companies are partnering to turn this NFT-based IP into a broader franchise.

Madrid-based Morgana Studios and Digitoonz Spain have agreed to co-own and co-develop the YugiBao brand, working towards a multi-platform franchise.

Morgana launched YugiBao in 2023 as an NFT collection comprising 1,600 characters. The brand currently has around 20,000 followers on X.

The franchise revolves around a future world where soft creatures (known as “baos”) wear robotic armors to protect themselves. The YugiBao expansion will have a phased rollout, initially building brand awareness with tween audiences through gaming (on both Roblox and console) and shortform content on social media platforms including YouTube.

Morgana and Digitoonz are also developing a 2D/CG-animated series (52 x 11 minutes) that will launch in the second phase of the rollout, to add more backstory and flesh out the characters. The show follows a brave bao named Yumi, who sets off to find the “Stream of Life” that has been stolen by Count Tofu.

The two companies will support the gaming and screen content with a robust consumer products program, including collectible toys, comic books, graphic novels, trading cards and other licensed merchandise.

This deal marks the first major partnership for Digitoonz Spain, which opened with a new office in Madrid last month and is headed by president Maria Bonaria Fois.
